DESTRUCTION
AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2011
with special guests
MORTAL SIN
4ARM

.

Destruction are legendary in thrash circles, and the best news of all is that they are back. Not only with a new album, but thrash fans all over the country will be warming up their necks for some serious head-banging at the news that Destruction will be touring Australia this November. Joining them for the ride will be Australian thrash pioneers, Mortal Sin, and established Melbourne act, 4ARM.

For almost 30 years, the name Destruction has been almost synonymous with high energy thrash. The south German act has never veered from their ethos of never backing down from creating pure thrash. Now, the three-piece are back with another thrash metal gem, Day Of Reckoning, and will be unleashing it upon Australian audiences. Released earlier this year, the album shows the band at its most fierce, brutal and thrashy.

Says vocalist Schmier of the album, “If you think Destruction is an old band, this album will prove you wrong! The speed and energy combined with a basic, fresh and aggressive production will make this record an outstanding classic of our long discography.”

Beginning way back in 1985, Mortal Sin, could probably be considered Australia’s first thrash metal band. Their first album, Mayhemic Destruction, saw them gain much attention at home and abroad, while a quiet period during the 1990’s saw them emerge again in 2004 for a tour with Anthrax and a European tour. Now in 2011, the band is set to release their newest epic, Psychology Of Death, on September 23.

Having just completed their third album, Submission For Liberty, 4ARM are chomping at the bit for its release. By joining this tour, fans are given the opportunity to experience some of the album’s ferocity and supercharged riffage in a live setting, before it’s 2012 release.

This triple header of thrash will be devastating metal fans around the country. So get on board and do not missDestruction causing devastation and ruin in a town near you.

Since the release of their 2010 album, Lost Boy, MyChildren MyBride have been touring non-stop. In fact guitarist, Robert Bloomfield, when asked what the future holds for the band, has responded, “Touring. This time the world over.” Having already toured the U.S. and Europe extensively, it is now time for this five-piece from Alabama to hit Australia for the very first time.

To say that MyChildren MyBride have made waves in today’s hardcore and metal scenes would be an understatement. The band sold over thirty thousand copies of their Solid State debut Unbreakable, and followed this feat up with countless tours and a second release that is arguably as good, if not better than its predecessor. Since the release of Lost Boy in 2010, MCMB have been touring relentlessly on the back of an album which, by the band’s own admittance, is full of songs that are fun to play live.

Joining MyChildren MyBride on this eleven-date tour around Australia will be Sydney’s For All Eternity.

Known as Australia’s premier heavy Christian act, Sydney’s For All Eternity are captivating audiences around the country with their brand of Metal/Hardcore – a perfect balance of both the melodic and the technical. With an EP under their belts and a fierce work ethic pushing them along, For All Eternity have embarked on two national tours, as well as earning themselves a support slot on the recent For Today tour. With a new release on the way, this is definitely a band to keep an eye out for.

Fans of the bands and of heavy music in general, mark the dates of this tour in your diaries now, as this double-header of melodic, yet technical Metalcore will surely stamp itself as one of the tours of 2011.

FOR THE FALLEN DREAMS
BACK BURNER AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2011

with special guests
SIENNA SKIES and HAND OF MERCY

There are bands that fade into obscurity, copying what has gone before. There are bands that push boundaries and excite audiences worldwide. In September Australia will lay witness to a band that is challenging perceptions of what Metalcore can be, Michigan USA’s For The Fallen Dreams.
For The Fallen Dreams have worked hard to create a following in the over saturated modern scene, since 2003 they have released 3 albums including 2011’s hugely successful Back Burner through Rise Records. Despite minor line-up changes in recent times, For The Fallen Dreams have kept up their hard touring schedule, honing their live show and taking audiences captive night after night across the US, Europe and the rest of the world. They will return to Australia for the second time this September, having visited before with The Red Shore in late 2008 for a run of blisteringly heavy metal shows still talked about by those in attendance.
National support will come from two of Sydney’s finest bands challenging on a national level, Sienna Skies and Hand Of Mercy.

Sienna Skies are still riding high on a wave of support, with each successive tour they are turning heads and winning hearts. The bands blend of keyboard melody and abrasive metal riffage are a potent combination and have helped them win supports alongside the likes of Confession, Attack Attack and Oh Sleeper. Sienna Skies are destined for huge things and this is a perfect opportunity to see them in a tight live environment while you still can.

Hand Of Mercy are the most humble rockers you will find, their down to earth approach to their craft comes across in their music and live performance and makes them a truly important band in 2011. Their debut album The Fallout has propelled them to greater heights, its combination of catchy hooks, anthemic chorus and crushing breakdowns whipping crowds into a fury wherever the band touches down.

In September 2011, a stagnant scene gets the boost some say it needs with international superstars For The Fallen Dreams being joined by local sensations Sienna Skies and Hand Of Mercy for an Australian Tour that will take in every major city and leave audiences craving more in its wake.

A must consider for the emerging Christian performer and musician:

Is being professional and ‘in business’ in line with biblical teaching and a ministry?
Are you maximising your monetary return from music sales?
What are the top 5 tips for increasing your chances of radio airplay?
What is the reality and how can you increase your chances of selling your music through Koorong and other stores?
What are ‘labels’ and publishers really on about and should you be pitching to them or not?
What ‘other’ avenues are there for your music (the sync market for example)?
Marketing, image and some top tips for building your ‘following’ – at gigs, effective social media activity and more
What are the potential trends and ideas for the future?
What do experienced Christian artists from a range of genres do?

“Empower Your Musical Career’ has shaped up to be one of the most significant collection of speakers and industry professionals assembled in one place on one day, supported by a range of wonderful Christian organisations – and all to input and empower the emerging Christian artist.

Please find attached the seminar brochure and poster.

More details, bios of the speakers and the day’s program can be found through the event organiser under the Events tab on their website www.pavmusic.com.

You may personally know:

- some emerging or newer Christian performers, musicians or worship team members who are wanting to pursue the chance of a career in the music industry

- that are or can be in Sydney on Saturday 23 July

- who would value some foundational input into successfully positioning their path in the near future from experienced industry professionals?

Or you know people who may know…….

If so, please pass this on to them or any others you know who may know.

Please spread the word – so that the emerging artists that God wants to be there get to hear of it.

Bookings are essential as there is a limited number of seats available – and with the range of people helping promote this event places are already filling fast.

Taperjean Records is proud to announce the inaugural No Surrender Tour 2011 featuring two of the most exciting heavy acts, Oh Sleeper (USA) & The Chariot (USA). The tour will storm from Toowoomba to Perth, with capital and regional cities in between.

Texans Oh Sleeper are returning on the back of a successful Australian tour in September 2010. From playing stages across the globe with the likes of Underoath, Bring Me The Horizon and Every time I Die, it is evident through their live performances and albums that Oh Sleeper are masters of their art. Australian fans will have the privilege of being one of the first to hear tracks from the bands as yet untitled 3rd studio album which is slated for a mid 2011 release.

Joining the bill is Georgia’s finest The Chariot, whom will be bringing their intense live shows to Australia for the very first time. Having released their critically acclaimed 4th studio album “Long Live” which has fans and critics singing the bands praises. However it is the bands live show that shall forever live on as the beating pulse of the band’s heart. The sheer force of their thunderous live renditions while maniacally pouring their entire physical being into each note captivates and jolts an audience into awe and utter appreciation. It is this experience, undeniable and unavoidable by anyone attending their show.

Rounding out the bill, Brisbane’s pop punk upstarts I Am Villain have been confirmed as the national support for the tour. Having formed in spring 2009 the five piece have been turning heads with their dynamic brand of pop punk and have began touring relentlessly having supported the likes of Mest (USA), Fireworks and most recently an East Coast tour with The Mission In Motion & Stealing O’Neal.
To coincide with the announcement I Am Villain will be releasing their debut 6 track EP “ One Night, One Victim” which will be available nationally on Friday February 11th via Taperjean/ Shock and features the single “ Frankly Dear, I Just Don’t Give A Damn” which has received an overwhelming response by both media and fans alike. Additionally the EP features guest vocals from Brett Islaub (The Mission In Motion), Chris Scott (Stealing O Neal) and Jake Bosci (Ellington)

This work ethic has seen Emery become one of the most exciting live acts.

This April, Emery is set to tour Australia on their first every headlining tour “We Do What We Want”. No Strangers to our shores having supported Story Of The Year, Underoath and most recently playing Soundwave festival, it will be the first opportunity for the band to play a full set. As Toby Morell (vocals) enthuses

“We are so stoked to come back to Australia. This will be our fourth trip down under, and, if our previous experiences are any indication, it’s going to be a blast. We’ve heard wonderful things about Easterfest, and we can’t wait to check it out. We hope all of our fans in Australia are as excited as we are. Come say hi at one of the shows. We don’t bite!”

To coincide with the Australian tour will be the release of the bands much anticipated 5th studio album “We Do What We Want” on long time label home Tooth and Nail records on Friday March 29th. The album was recorded in Seattle at The Compound with guitarist Matthew Carter and Aaron Sprinkle whom was responsible for the previous 2 efforts. As Josh (keyboards) describes: “The new album’s a little different than our older records. I think the album, overall, is heavier than anything we’ve done. There’s more screaming and riffing. At the same time, there’s some of the most melodic material we’ve ever written.”

Australian fans will be some of the first in the world to witness new tracks taken from “We Do What We Want” in the live setting with the band also incorporating an array of fan favourites from their extensive back catalogue.

For the first time in Sydney, these three International Artists are together for one night only!

NewWorldSon return to Sydney after wowing crowds in January 2010. The four-piece from Canada, determined to live up to their reputation as the must-see-live band, deliver a remarkable live show that blends everything from pop, blues, jazz, gospel and soul music all in one show.

From humble beginnings to now headlining various festivals around the world, NewWorldSon continue to prove themselves. They have already won four Gospel Music Association Awards (Roots Album of the Year x2, Best New Artist and Group of the Year) and have just been nominated for their third Juno Award (the Canadian equivalent to a Grammy) for Gospel Album of the Year.

Their debut album with Inpop, “Salvation Station” was voted the 3rd Best Album of 2008 by Christianity Today. Their self-titled second album was released in 2010, and produced NewWorldSon’s first radio hit, “There Is A Way,” which topped various charts and peaked as the 2nd most played song in Australia.

Article One come to Sydney for the first time, after they received major success at Australia’s largest Christian music festival, Easterfest in 2010. Article One fuse together the classical sounds of a violin with the catchy and rhythmic sounds of a pop/rock band. With a unique and infectious live show, you will find it difficult to stay in your seat.

Also from Canada, Article One have performed across North America and Australia and have toured with the Newsboys, Starfield, Stellar Kart and Superchick. They have had two top ten’s on US radio with “Without You (I’m Not Alright)” and “Taken By The Storm”, which are tracks from their second album “Colors and Sounds” that debuted at number 8 on the Billboard Christian Charts. “The One (I’m Fighting for)” is the first single off their newest album and was the 5th most played song on Australian radio in 2010. Going from strength to strength, Article One offer a very memorable experience that will leave you wanting more.

Shawn McDonald (USA), brings his acoustic folk sound back to Australia. Shawn McDonald is a singer/songwriter who is not afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve. His lyrics are bold, stark and palpably authentic. His music will take you on a journey that most people can identify with and relate to. Shawn McDonald’s life has been marked by a string of heartaches, bad breaks, and personal mistakes, events that have landed him both in trouble with the law and in love with the Lord – in that order.

McDonald’s most recent album “Closer” is set to be released in Australia in March 2011. He has worked collaboratively with such talents as Ben Glover (“The Lost Get Found”) and Brandon Heath, while the album was produced by Christopher Stevens (TobyMac, Sanctus Real). The first single off the album, also entitled “Closer”, is catchy and one that is destined to resonate with most people’s feelings.

NewWorldSon, Article One and Shawn McDonald…Don’t miss out on this unforgettable show!

The ACG team recently had the pleasure of interviewing Grave Forsaken vocalist and guitarist, Vaughan; here is the outcome of that interview – enjoy!

Describe your music to us.
Grave Forsaken is a Christian thrash band. We base our style on old school bay area style thrash. We aim to have retro guitar solo’s with thrashy riffs and catchy chorus sections. Our biggest influences musically are Tourniquet, Deliverance, Megadeth and Slayer. We are not yet as technical as those bands, however we aim to develop that further on our next album.

When and how did the band start?
The band started in 2004 out of the ashes of my previous band called Katara. In the space of a month we lost our drummer and guitar player, and the new guys we got in contributed a different vibe. It just felt right to scrap the Katara project and start something fresh. So the original four Grave Forsaken members were Vaughan Gregory (Guitar/Vocals), Elias Salmela (Guitar/Vocals), Matt Skipworth (Bass/Vocals) and Tim Steadman (Drums). The band started with a strong intention to play Christian music that proclaimed our faith in Christ. We are pleased to say we’ve held true to that in the 6 years since.

Explain your band name.
Tim Steadman, our first drummer, came up with the name. It refers to Christ, whose grave was forsaken when He rose from the dead. We love it because it is very appropriate to our genre, yet it is a specific reference to the gospel as well. The best of both worlds.

What’s the latest news from you guys (tour, new songs/EPs/albums, videos, etc.)?
The latest is that we have released our 4th album “Fight To The Death” earlier in 2010. It has been very well received in the Christian metal scene, which is really pleasing for us. Unfortunately our bass player Matt badly broke his leg in August, meaning we are on a temporary hiatus at the moment. I’m taking the downtime as a chance to record a solo album. But things will back in full swing for GF in 2011 when we start recoding our 5th album.

Who are your main influences?
Our main influences in the Christian scene are Tourniquet, Deliverance and Mortification, while we take a lot of musical influence from secular bands like Slayer, Megadeth and Iron Maiden.

Where do you see yourselves in five years?
I’d like to have another 3 or 4 albums out in 5 years. We are keen on performing at Easterfest in Queensland each year and we are hopeful of getting to America to play at Cornerstone with some of the US Christian metal bands. That would be very enjoyable. But, if none of that comes to pass, as long as God is using us in 5 years time then I’m happy.
